A Better Approach to Brain Injury Recovery
Lake Region Healthcare's Brain Injury Support Group invites health care, public health, social service agencies, and the general public to a special event at 7pm on Monday, March 9th at M State's Legacy Hall. Attendees will hear firsthand the "Powerful Story of The Mackall Family Journey" from Lisabeth Mackall. "On January 2, 2012, my world was destroyed when I received a knock on the door informing me that my husband, Officer Frank Mackall, had been in a devastating car crash while on duty and had suffered a severe brain injury," said Mackall. "Our ongoing story of recovery challenges some of the ideas of what we should do as healthcare providers when engaging with families during the long road of recovery," she adds. Mackall will share her story of the trauma related events following that life-changing situation from the family perspective and emotional and honest conversation will help caregivers, clinicians and other healthcare professionals understand their impact on the recovery process of a brain injury and what they can do to make a real difference for families living with and caring for a loved one with a brain injury. The presentation is open to the public and is free of charge thanks to a grant from the Lake Region Healthcare Foundation. Please call 218-736-8458 for more information.
