Glacial Edge Trail (GET) Master Plan Project
The City of Fergus Falls is the final stages of planning for the future Glacial Edge Trail. This regional trail is intended to create connections with existing trail systems, such as the Central Lakes State Trail, as well as future county and state trails. The trail will be a paved, multi-use trail accommodating walkers, runners, bicyclists, and inline skaters. The trail will also connect important destinations in the city, including: downtown Fergus Falls, the River Walk, the Otter Tail River, Otto the Otter/Grotto Lake, M State, Historic Kirkbride Campus, the future Ferber Park, and the Chautauqua Ice Margin Interpretive Loop.
The Glacial Edge Trail Master Plan will:
- Identify the specific route of this 15-mile trail
- Identify trailhead locations, connections to destinations along the trail, connections to other trails, and ecological stewardship strategies along the trail corridor
- Meet regional trail requirements for the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission in order to access the state's Legacy Amendment funding
- Guide the City's phased development of the trail over the next 10-20 years.
