Ground Breaking for Veterans Memorial Park
Fergus Falls Veterans Memorial Park Ground Breaking Event
Monday April 25th @ 2:00pm
Come as an opportunity to Show Your Support for Veterans!
An effort that started in December to commemorate U.S. military veterans of Otter Tail County is kicking into high gear this month and into the summer.
An approximately 1,018 square foot monument honoring U.S. military veterans made up of six granite plinths and about 1,145 pavers is being developed this year to be placed at the Veterans Memorial Park in Fergus Falls. A 9-foot plinth with a carved-in American flag and copy of the Pledge of Allegiance will be in the middle and one plinth for each branch of the military will be on the perimeter of the monument. These perimeter plinths will contain the names of all military men and women from Otter Tail County who were classified as killed in action, missing in action, or prisoner of war in theater for any war or conflict.
The Fergus Falls Veterans Memorial committee is working with area public record holders retrieve this information. However, anyone who has a connection or is a relative with someone from Otter Tail County who meets any of the criteria is asked to send an email to the committee at FFVetsMemorialPark@yahoo.com with the name of that person and the war or conflict in which they served.
The members of the committee are Louis Karsnia, Gabe Kainz, Cameron Hanson, Jim Fish, Sam Ross, Ryan Welle, Mike Welle, Greg Wagner and Tim Engstrom.
