Kirkbride Arts and History Weekend

The Kirkbride Arts and History Weekend honors that past and future of the Fergus Falls State Hospital. From an original theater production, "Walking the Tightrope," based on the history of the hospital, to interactive art displays, building and cemetery tours, and film screenings, come learn and celebrate this unique and complex part of Fergus Falls' history.

5:30pm Fergus Falls State Hospital Cemetery Tour, presented by the Otter Tail County Historical Society. Meet in back of the MN Veteran’s Home. $6 admission, no reservations required.

5:30pm Kirkbride Building Idea Exchange with Robert Kirkbride at The Spot Panini & Wine. Free.

7:30pm “Walking the Tightrope” opening night at A Center for the Arts. $12 adults/$5 students, tickets required.

9:30pm Community Sing with David Stoddard and Timothy C. Takach at The Spot Panini & Wine. Free.

Saturday, September 19

10:00am - 12:00pm Bike Ride for Mental Health, presented by PartnerSHIP 4 Health. Meet in front of the Kirkbride Building administrative tower. Free, no registration required.

12:00pm - 2:00pm Healings, Integrations, Illuminations: The Aesthetics of Process at 202 West Lincoln Ave. Free.

2:00pm - 7:00pm Community Picnic on the Kirkbride grounds, featuring Hinge artists in residence, Kirkbride mini-tours (2 - 6pm), Kaddatz Gallery Family art table, local food, live music, lawn games, and more! Free and open to the public.

7:30pm “Walking the Tightrope” at A Center for the Arts. $12 adults/$5 students, tickets required.

7:30pm - 9:00pm Ernie Sundberg’s Fergus Falls, and films by Nik Nerburn, Rosie Yerke and Robert Uehlin. Free and open to the public.

Sunday, September 20

1pm - 4pm Ceremony of Remembrance and Cemetery Tour with Self Advocates Minnesota Northwest, and the Friends of the Fergus Falls State Hospital Cemetery. Transportation from the MN Veteran’s Home back parking lot begins at 12:30pm and ends at 5:00pm. Free and open to the public.

2pm “Walking the Tightrope” closing performance at A Center for the Arts. $12 adults/$5 students, tickets required.
