M State Choral Concert
Minnesota State Community and Technical College welcomes the holiday season this year with an 80-voice choral performance of John Rutter’s “Gloria” and costumed Old English carolers singing traditional Christmas favorites.
The M State Music Department’s Holiday Concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, in Legacy Hall on the Fergus Falls campus. The concert will be followed by an afterglow with holiday refreshments and strolling carolers.
“Gloria,” a celebration of the holiday season, will feature a brass ensemble accompanying members of the M State Concert Choir and Chamber Chorale under the direction of M State Choral Director Teresa Ashworth. M State Concert Band Director Jim Iverson is coordinating the brass ensemble.
Both choirs also will perform individually. A highlight of the Chamber Chorale performance will be a solo by M State sophomore Sidney Imsande of New York Mills, who will sing “Only in Sleep” by Latvian composer Erik Esenvalds.
Sixteen costumed carolers, members of the college’s auditioned Voice Ensemble, will sing “Ding! Dong! Merrily on High,” “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “Sleigh Ride.”
The concert will end with a Pentatonix arrangement of “Silent Night.”
Tickets are $9 in advance and $11 at the door for adults, and $7 in advance and $8 at the door for students. Advance tickets are available in the M State Box Office, by calling 218.736.1600 or online at mstatetickets.com.
