Tour of Manufacturing Fergus Falls 2015
Event Sponsors
It’s like an episode of Science Channel’s, “How it’s Made,” in your own backyard. The Tour of Manufacturing in Fergus Falls, Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25, allows the general public to attend seven open houses and find out more about our manufacturers and their high-paying career options. Today’s manufacturing requires highly-skilled employees who earn an average salary of $59,565 which is 21% than wages in all other industries, according to MN Dept. of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). Additional areas manufacturers hire include: administration, assembly, auto CAD, CNC machining, customer service, design, distribution, engineering, installation, logistics, management, marketing, precision machining, research & development, sales, welding and more.
From consumer products such as kitchen cabinets, aluminum boat lifts and energy-efficient windows to industry solutions like valve communication systems, store fixtures and packaging equipment, Fergus Falls manufactures a wide variety of goods that are known the world over for high quality. Friday afternoon you’re invited to tour Vector Windows, ShoreMaster, and Fergus Falls High School’s all-new, state-of-the-art Modern Manufacturing Learning Lab (M2L2) at Roosevelt Education Center. Saturday morning visit Thiele Technologies, West Tool & Design, StoneL and Vector Windows.
“Prepare to be amazed by the technology and automation used in our modern manufacturing facilities,” said Lisa Workman, Executive Director of the Fergus Falls Area Chamber of Commerce. The event is FREE and open to everyone from school-age kids and families to college students and retirees. Attendees who complete a short survey following the tour will have a chance to win an Apple iPad. The Tour of Manufacturing is a collaboration of: DEED, Dream It! Do It!, Fergus Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, Fergus Falls Economic Improvement Commission, Lakes Country Service Cooperative, M State, Tri-State Manufacturers’ Association, and West Central Initiative.
