FERGUS HOME & HARDWARE – KITCHEN & BATH DESIGNER Locally owned business seeking full-time Kitchen & Bath Designer for our Store. Fergus Home & Hardware is dedicated to providing our customers and clients with quality products, designs, and expert advice. We are seeking a friendly, knowledgeable, and motivated Kitchen & Bath Designer to join our team. LOCATION: JOB SUMMARY: Fergus Falls, Minnesota A Kitchen and Bath Designer provides exceptional interior design services for our clients. Designer will work on remodeling projects to update an existing home or start from scratch to create a custom interior design. Knowledge of intricacies of bath and kitchen design projects, including the details of cabinets and flooring installations. Manage projects from start to finish, sourcing materials, coordinating with contractors, and overseeing installations as needed. Product knowledge of various materials, appliances, lighting fixtures, finishes, and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products from our suppliers. Providing excellent customer service before, during, and after the completion of projects, and resolving any concerns promptly and efficiently. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: • Meet with clients to understand their goals, preferences, and the functional needs of their space. • Confer with clients to determine factors affecting planning of interior environments, such as budget, architectural preferences, purpose, and function. • Advise clients on interior design factors, such as space planning, layout and use of furnishings or equipment, and color coordination. • Creating detailed design plans, including layout, cabinetry, countertops, lighting, and appliances using design software. • Adhere to building codes and regulations. • Outline client design changes and objectives. • Present design proposals to clients and address any concerns. • Understand and communicate sustainable materials and practices appropriate for projects. • Site measuring and simple photography as necessary. • Determining the specific materials required for projects. • Research and evaluate potential suppliers based on client selection. • Estimate material requirements and costs, and present to client for approval. • Agree on terms, prices, delivery schedules, and payment terms with customers and selected suppliers. • Purchase of materials from the chosen suppliers. • Monitor project timelines. • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and other professionals as needed. • Address issues and changes that arise during the project. • Maintaining clear communication with clients throughout the project. • Maintaining detailed project documentation. • Order and maintain product samples from suppliers. • Other duties as assigned. BASIC SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS • Excellent client communication skills through meetings, emails, texts, and phone calls. • Punctuality. 1 • Regular scheduled attendance. • Work every other Saturday. • Flexibility to work overtime as needed. • Good organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Willingness to learn about products from our suppliers. • Accurately use computer design software. • Accurately process payments for purchase using the point-of-sale system. • Strong visual composition and problem-solving skills. • Strong mathematical and measuring skills. • Manage time effectively to complete tasks efficiently. • Physically fit and able to lift, carry, and move merchandise, products, furniture, etc., safely. • Valid driver’s license. • Ability to pass a background check and drug test. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or related field or five (5) years of verifiable experience in the design development of significant remodels or custom homes. • Relevant experience in design, construction, or project management. • Proficiency in design software, project management tools, and or construction methods. • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards. • Knowledge of sustainable building practices. • Previous experience working in sales or customer-based employment. • Knowledge of computers and electronics to use point-of-sale system. • Knowledge and ability to operate material handling equipment such as strap carts, shoulder harnesses, two-wheeled carts, and other material handling equipment. • Verifiable references from previous employer(s) and client(s) • Provide a portfolio by digital means that includes examples of your drawings and completed job photos.
